Shelter In Thailand

With Shelter, you can simply relocate to Thailand and do your business through Shelter as the Employer of Record (EoR). We charge an affordable flat monthly fee for our EoR service, which covers everything needed from a legal perspective to establish a reliable tax home in Thailand.

And importantly, you won’t have to deal with any of the usual hassles of expat life:

  • No more paperwork
  • No visa runs
  • No 90-day check-ins at Immigration

Requirements

  • Are at least 22 years old
  • Have either one of the following:
    • An IT-related university degree, plus at least 2 years of relevant work experience
    • Any type of university/college/school diploma or certificate, plus 5 years of relevant work experience (backed by recommendation letters)
  • Work in software development, blockchain, design, marketing, business development, eCommerce, or other online, tech/digital-related activity
  • Have an existing business or client base
  • Earn a minimum of $1,500 USD per month
  • Can commit to a one-year contract

The Process

All in all, the onboarding process can take between 2 to 4 weeks, depending largely on the available positions we have open and how quickly you are able to provide the required documents.

1

Get In Touch

Fill out our Contact Form and a representative will be in touch with you shortly. The first step is to schedule an online appointment and have a quick discovery call.

2

Submit Your Documents

Once you are ready to proceed, we send you an invite to begin the electronic document collection process. You will need to provide digital copies of the following documents:

  • Passport
  • Passport-suitable photo
  • CV/Resume
  • Reference letters
  • University Diploma, High School Diploma, or Professional Certificate
3

Get Your Position Approved

With your documents collected, we submit your position to the labor authorities in Thailand. Once approved, you will issued an official approval letter. This process can take up to two weeks. When your documents are ready, we will ship them to you internationally for free.

We also prepare visa application paperwork for your spouse and/or children, at no extra charge. We just need a marriage certificate and birth certificates of your children.

4

Apply for Business Visa

After you receive your paperwork, you need to apply for your 90-day Business Visa at a Thai embassy or consulate outside of Thailand (if you are already in Thailand, you can apply in Chiang Mai or Bangkok). At most embassies, you will be able to pick up your visa on the next business day.

5

Enter Thailand

Ensure that your visa page is stamped at Immigration on arrival to Thailand. Once in the country, you will scan your visa page, arrival stamp, and departure card and send to us.

6

Obtain Work Permit

Finally, we will meet you in person at Thai Immigration in Chiang Mai or Bangkok to extend your 90-day Business Visa to 1-year, submit your work permit application, and obtain your Work Permit. We also accompany you to the Thai bank of your choice to help you open a checking and savings account.

7

Get to Work!

With your work permit and visa in hand, you are ready to do what you do best – work and enjoy your new life in Thailand.

This is also when the monthly payroll process starts. We invoice our clients on the 21st of each month, process their tax and social security payments, and pay salaries on the 1st of the following month.
